I’ve always had the best memories of childhood holidays in Cornwall. When looking for a place to go on holiday earlier this year there was really only one place to return to.
Looking for a place to stay is always my favourite part of planning any trip. Unique Home Stays gave us a huge amount of beautiful places to chose from. We settled on The Herringbone in Mousehole harbour. On arrival we certainly weren’t disappointed, this one bedroom cottage oozes charm and has incredible views out to sea.
We spent 5 days here and didn’t want to leave, we swapped alarm clocks with the a wake up call from the seagulls, walks to the office with walks along the coast, I can safely say I left here truly relaxed.
- Stroll along the harbour to The Rockpool Cafe for a delicious cream tea with views out to sea.
- Find the best car parking for you, we parked in the south quay, as this was closest to our accommodation but consider the very narrow roads in the town which can only fit one car so we had lots of reversing to let others pass. The south quay does have an incredibly helpful attendant.
- Venture out to The Minack Theatre and Lands End which are only a short drive away (again be prepared for narrow roads).
- If you’re an early bird head to Hole Foods deli for freshly baked bread or a hearty full English breakfast.
St Michaels Mount near Marazion, this unique heritage site is one of a kind and not to be missed. We travelled by boat and arrived in rainy weather, climbed the mount and came back down for lunch. By which time the sun came out so we climbed it again and weren’t disappointed by stunning views of the Cornish coast. Visit the plant sale by the shop for interesting new plants for the garden.
Our adventures in Cornwall certainly left us wanting to explore here more, we’ll definitely be back. Do you have any recommendations for where we could stay next?
